Conservation photography at work the Santa Clara river project

22nd February 2010

To raise awareness of the plight of the endangered Santa Clara river on a national and international level, notable landscape photographer Peter Goin, head of the “Water in the West” photographic project, was commissioned to conduct a survey of the river system and its landscape. These evidential images, together with new, additional photographic works to follow, will travel the United Sates in a museum exhibition and will later be monographed in a book, with the aim of helping save southern California’s last wild river from extinction.

Commenting, Animals on the Edge co-founder Leo Grillo, who has invested 15-years bringing this project to fruition, stated, “This photographic survey is a visual reminder of another American treasure we cannot afford to ignore or lose. Future generations will be thankful that we all worked together during our lifetime to save this river.”
