Human/wildlife conflict (HWC) is a significant problem for farmers living close to India’s national parks. In an effort to help reduce instances of HWC AOTE is working with a local NGO to assess the viability of using chilli pepper plants to deter wildlife. The experiment is being conducted on a model farm close to Mukki gate and, if successful, will be rolled out to farmers in local villages. As well as providing a natural barrier, the chillies can be harvested to provide additional income to the farmers.
Our work saves wildlife by helping animals and people to co-exist. With our knowledge and experience, we are in a unique position to make a lasting difference. But we can't do it alone. Help us and together we can - and will - make a difference.
