Africa’s lions - A step in the right direction

31st August 2010

In the first half of 2010 AOTE reported on an exciting action plan aimed at saving Africa’s wild lions from extinction (http://www.animalsontheedge.org/images/uploads/lion_country.pdf). In August, ALERT opened its first Stage 2 site, releasing a pride of lions into the Ngamo Reserve in Zimbabwe. This pride will be monitored over the course of the next year, during which time AOTE will be producing a photo documentary to back up ALERT’s research. If all is successful, the pride will form the foundation of a Stage 3 release and, ultimately, release into the wild.
