Our Approach
We believe that for conservation efforts to be effective and sustainable they must address the diverse and often-demanding needs of not just wildlife but also of communities and the institutions that serve those communities, including governments and businesses.
With this in mind, Animals on the Edge takes a 3-step approach to conservation:
- First, we conduct research that focuses on the bigger picture, talking to affected communities, local governments and authorities, involved non-government organisations, small and large corporations, independent biologists and national governments.
- Next, we produce a White Paper on our findings, laying out methodologies for addressing specific conservation challenges. Typically, our proposals involve ways of increasing the value of wildlife populations and habitat in order that communities and governments will be encouraged to protect them for the economic value they provide.
- Finally, we present innovative real-world conservation proposals to decision makers and aid and assist in the adoption and implementation of conservation plans on an international basis.
Via this 3-step process Animals on the Edge is able to ensure as viably as is possible that the conservation efforts we adopt and support are sustainable in the long term and provide workable solutions that result in enduring protection for wildlife.
